Citation II Interior

History

The Citation II, specifically Model 550, is a direct successor of the Citation I. The Citation II has a maximum seating capacity of 10 passengers, with most configurations seating 8. The Citation II engines were upgraded from the Citation I with the inclusion of the more powerful JT15D-4 engines. Fuel capacity was also increased to approximately 5000 lbs which produced a faster and longer range jet.

Its first flight was on January 31st, 1977, and it earned certification to be operated with two pilots in March, 1978. A total of 603 jets were produced before the Citation II was discontinued and replaced by the Bravo model.

The US Customs & Border Protection purchased 10 Citation IIs configured with fire control radar and the WF-360TL imaging system. These jets have been used effectively in Panama, Honduras, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Mexico and Aruba and are not to be confused with the similar OT-47B aircraft, which are based on the Cessna Citation V airframe.
